Directly in your Post
Copy and paste your writing into the post box and post it.
Google Docs
Click the blue "Share" button in the upper right corner of the Google document you are working on.
Choose "Restricted" under the "General Access" section. No one will be able to open this link unless you grant them permission via email (see #6 below).
On the Scribblers website, in the category with your name on it, start a new post
Write any comments or instructions you may have in your post and then paste the link you copied from Google Docs into the post.
Post your post.
You will get an email when each person in the group clicks on your link. In that email you must choose for them to be a "Commentator" then choose "Share". You must do this for each member of the group that requests permission.
YOUR WRITING PROGRAM TO PDF
Save your work in the PDF format from whichever program you are using
On the Scribblers website, in the category with your name on it, start a new post
Give you Post a title
Click in the main body of the blank post and start typing - a "+" mark will appear
Click on the "+" and this will open a small menu
The third menu item over is the "Upload" button
Click the "Upload" button
Choose the file from your computer and click "Open"
The file should now appear in the body area of the post
Post your post.
GOOGLE DOC TO PDF
Here are the steps that you can use for computer.
Open the Google Doc you want to make into a PDF
Select "File" and then Download" and then "PDF Document"
This will open a "Save As" box
Save the file to your computer
Open Scribbler's Website
Click on your name
Click the "Create New Post" button
Give you Post a title
Click in the main body of the blank post and start typing - a "+" mark will appear
Click on the "+" and this will open a small menu
The third menu item over is the "Upload" button
Click the "Upload" button
Choose the file from your computer and click "Open"
The file should now appear in the body area of the post
Here are the steps that you can use for IPhone.
Open the Google Doc you want on your iPhone
Click on the "..." in the upper right corner
Click on "Share & Export"
Click on "Send a Copy"
Choose "PDF" format
In the new window that opens scroll down and click on "Save to Files"
A new window appears, make sure the upper center of that window says, "On My Iphone" if it does not, click on what is there and choose "On My IPhone".
Click "Save"
Open the Scribblers website
Click on your name
Click the "Create New Post" button
Give you Post a title
Click in the main body of the blank post to start typing
Below that space are some icons. The last one on the right is the "Upload" button - click on it
From the choices that open click on "Choose Files"
From the new window that opens choose the PDF file you had saved earlier
Click "Open in the top right
The PDF is now uploaded.
Please post any writings that you want reviewed as a post in the group with your name on it.
You can use the "Share something..." box at the top of your personalized group or on the page which holds the group newsfeed. This will keep us all your writings in the same space.
If you would like to receive notification when anything is posted on the Scribblers site do the following. Click the "Join" button next to the group you would like to get notifications for. The "Join" buttons can be found on the home, groups, and individual group pages.
You can give feedback in multiple ways: A) As a Comment You can comment directly on the post that holds the text, link or PDF file of the writing you want to review. B) Giving Feedback Directly on a Google Doc: #1 - Click on the document link in the post of the person you want to review.#2 - You'll be brought to a new page where you must request access to the document. Click "Request Access".#3 - Wait for the document owner to grant you access (this may take a while - they will get an email about it)#4 - You can now make suggestions on the document by highlighting text and then writing a comment using the small dialogue box that opens beside the text. C) Giving Feed Back on a PDF#1 - Click on the PDF link of the document you'd like to comment on#2 - Save the PDF to your computer#3 - Print and make your comments#4 - Bring to next meeting or scan and email to writer Two Positives and a Negative •Too nice is bland, boring and gives the writer no feeling of honest appreciation when they do produce something that is genuinely good. • Too negative is discouraging and disheartening. • What’s needed is a positive atmosphere that evokes honest, sensitive and respectful feedback. Comments should be constructive and a good formula to follow is two positives and a negative. Prompts for feedback: • Does it begin well? • What emotion/s does it evoke? • What particular words or phrases do you remember? • How do you personally relate to the piece? Remember most writers have delicate egos and are fairly quick to criticize their own work. A ground rule could be that no one should be negative about their own writing, or apologize for what they read out. This can help generate a more positive atmosphere.
